Sky Tg24

PRIVATE GROUPS RACE TO MEET COVID TESTING DEMAND FROM UK COMPANIES

Financial Times - Private health companies are racing to meet the demand for coronavirus tests from UK corporate clients with some setting up temporary laboratories near businesses that want to bring staff back into work. With rising case numbers straining public sector testing capacity, private providers have reported a surge in demand, particularly from businesses. In an effort to return 5,000 employees to its submarines business, defence company BAE Systems has contracted Circular 1 Health, a health logistics company, to mass test its workforce at a pop-up laboratory on site, using a number of rapid tests including one produced by biotech company MicrosensDX that provides results in 60 minutes. The MicrosensDX test uses “Lamp” technology — a very new genetic testing technique that promises faster results than conventional...>>>

TAMPONI COVID, PREZZI DIVERSI IN OGNI REGIONE

Corriere della Sera - I tamponi si possono fare dai privati solo in alcune parti d’Italia. Antigenici a prezzo imposto in Lazio.

COVID DRIVES MORE PEOPLE IN UK TOFUND OWN OPERATIONS

The Guardian
- A major private hospital group says it has experienced a doubling in the number of patients opting to pay out of their own pocket for a range of procedures because they fear they will not be seen because the NHS is struggling with a backlog of operations.
HCA Healthcare, which runs some of the best-known private hospitals in London, including the Portland and the Lister, as well as providing private care at Guy’s, said: “We have seen double the number of self-pay procedures in hip surgeries, ophthalmology (cataracts) and abdominal procedures on last year. “People are also coming to our London hospitals from further afield than normal, particularly from the south and south-west of England where we have seen 25% to 35% more self-pay patients.” Spire Healthcare, which runs 39 private hospitals across the UK, also reported an upsurge. Its chief operating officer, John Forrest, said...>>>

HSE STILL TO SECURE PRIVATE HOSPITAL CAPACITY AMID NPHET WARNING OF POTENTIAL COVID SURGE

kkkkkk
The Journal - The HSE is engaged with all of the private hospitals in the country “on two fronts” to try to secure capacity in the event of a Covid surge in the coming months, Health Minister Stephen Donnelly has said. The takeover of private hospitals at the beginning of the pandemic cost the State €305 million over the space of three months, and talks remain ongoing between the HSE and private hospitals to access private capacity again heading into the winter. The latest news from Donnelly comes after the HSE last week re-issued a tender aimed at securing private hospital capacity for non-Covid care to help the health service cope with the “enduring impact of Covid-19″. Until that procurement process is completed, the Department of Health has temporarily sanctioned spending of up to €25 million for the treatment of public patients in private hospitals. This spending follows over €300 million...>>>

CAN'T GET TESTED FOR CORONAVIRUS ON THE NHS? HERE'S HOW YOU CAN GET SWABBED PRIVATELTY

Daily Mail - Britain's
Covid-19 swab-testing system has been crumbling this week as cases are surging and hundreds of people say they can't get tests even though they are ill. Faced with a dead-end online booking system or directions to tests hundreds of miles from home, many are losing faith in NHS Test & Trace altogether. But there are other ways to get tested. Websites run by private firms are offering in-clinic and DIY home tests for people wanting to speed up the process. They come with a hefty price tag, however, with the most costly coming in at an eye-watering £350 for a swab done by a medical professional. Although they're likely to be very similar kits, the Health Secretary Matt Hancock has urged members of the public...>>>

POURQUOI PARIS POURRAIT PASSER EN "ZONE D'ALERT MAXIMALE"

L'Obs
