Financial Times - Arrangement comes as UK deaths from the disease rise to 233 The entire capacity of the private hospital sector in England will be used to treat coronavirus patients, and take on work the NHS is too overwhelmed to carry out, under a deal announced by the government on Saturday. As the taxpayer-funded health service braces for hundreds of thousands of extra patients, the agreement will provide nearly 20,000 extra staff to help manage the surge in cases, NHS England said. The arrangement, which in effect puts the whole private hospital sector under contract to the government, will start on Monday.
